People say our breakfasts are delicious in all kinds of languages. We are delighted to be told that ours is the best bacon they’ve ever had. That you must have the salmon with everything, you must savour the homemade bread or try the ultimate Irish fry.

Because we know breakfast is the most important meal of the day, we go a long way to ensure it’s also the best. We chose local produce wherever possible. We serve it upstairs, in the drawing room, overlooking the lush links of Ardglass Golf Club, gathering our guests around one big table. Though if you prefer, you can enjoy a continental breakfast tray in your own room.

Just let us know what works for you. Whatever you choose, and however you like it cooked, we know that a fabulous Margaret’s Cottage breakfast will set you up for the day.

You can enjoy yours in the drawing room between 7.30am and 9 .30am, complete with freshly brewed coffee, Twinning’s breakfast tea and a mountain of granary and white toast.

Plant-based milk and vegetable spread are also available.

Full Breakfast Menu

Served upstairs in the guest drawing room from 7.30 to 9.30am.

Please ask about sitting times so that you can enjoy our breakfast in safety and peace.

To begin with, please help yourself to:

  • Fresh, chilled orange juice.
  • Traditional Irish wheaten bread with homemade preserves & honey.
  • A selection of cereals, granola, muesli, dried fruits & yoghurt.
  • Freshly prepared seasonal fruit platter.


Then choose from the following:

  • Our traditional fry and wee fry Locally sourced smoked back-bacon, handmade pure pork sausages, local mushrooms fried slowly in butter, traditional Irish potato bread, free range eggs, Clonakilty black pudding and Heinz baked beans on the side.

  • Gently scrambled free-range eggs Scattered with flakes of locally smoked salmon, served on a lightly toasted bagel.

  • Two poached free-range eggs Served on lightly buttered, toasted English muffins.

  • Cousin Aveen’s pancakes A small mountain of freshly made fluffy pancakes, topped with oodles of crispy bacon, drizzled with sweet Canadian maple syrup.

  • A lightly toasted English muffin Generously topped with crispy smoked back bacon, fried Irish potato bread and a free-range egg. Served with a glass of Diet Cola or Lucozade Sport.

All are served with freshly brewed coffee, Twinning’s breakfast tea and a small mountain of granary and white toast.


Breakfast In Your Room

If you wish to order a breakfast tray in your room, please let us know before 7pm – thank you. Breakfast tray consists of coffee/tea, chilled orange juice, warm croissants, butter and preserves.

All meat products are supplied by local butcher I.K. Meats, Bath St. Ardglass. Smoked Salmon is supplied by East Coast Seafood, Ballyhornan.

Vegan Breakfast Menu

Served upstairs in the guest drawing room from 7.30 to 9.30am.

To begin, please help yourself to:

  • Fresh, chilled orange juice.
  • Traditional Irish wheaten bread with homemade preserve.
  • A selection of cereals, granola, muesli, dried fruits, plant-based yogurt.
  • Freshly prepared seasonal fruit platter.

Then choose from the following:

  • Our pretty fine meat-free fry Vegan Easy Egg, scrambled. Traditional fried Ormeau Irish potato bread. Local mushrooms slow-cooked with a dash of olive oil. Roasted vine tomatoes. Heinz baked beans. Avocado [if ripe and available]

  • A small mountain of freshly made VEGAN pancakes Topped with blueberries and banana, drizzled with sweet Canadian maple syrup.

  • My Dad’s best scrambled egg -Made with vegan Easy Egg and mixed with fried onion, chopped fried tomato and a few herbs and spices, accompanied by toasted Irish soda bread, some slow-cooked Irish mushrooms and fresh wilted spinach.

All are served with plant-based milk and vegetable spread. A freshly brewed coffee, Twinning’s breakfast tea and a small mountain of granary and white toast.

Vegetarian Breakfast Menu

To begin, please help yourself to:

  • Fresh, chilled orange juice.
  • Traditional Irish wheaten bread with homemade preserve.
  • A selection of cereals, granola, muesli, dried fruits, and plant-based yogurt.
  • Freshly prepared seasonal fruit platter.

Then choose one of the following:

  • Our pretty fine meat-free fry Eggs (poached, fried or scrambled), served with the traditional fried Irish potato bread. Local mushrooms, slow-cooked with a dash of olive oil. Roasted vine tomatoes. Heinz baked beans.

  • Gently scrambled free-range eggs Scattered with flakes of locally smoked salmon, served on a lightly toasted bagel or crumpet.

  • A small mountain of freshly made pancakes Topped with blueberries and banana, drizzled with sweet Canadian maple syrup.

  • My Dad’s best-scrambled egg With fried onion, tomato and a few herbs and spices, accompanied by a toasted muffin and a side of slow-cooked Irish mushrooms.

Please ask for plant-based milk and vegetable spread.
