“It’s my pleasure to welcome you to Margaret’s Cottage, whether it’s for short stopover or a week-long golf trip.”
Margaret’s Cottage was once the ballast office for the busy local harbour, then lighthouse-keepers’ cottage and the local coastguards’ Cottage, and today Margaret’s Cottage is not just our home. It’s your home from home. We’ve been here since 2015, welcoming visitors to our now luxury B&B for lots of R&R.
All our bedrooms have either an ensuite or private bathroom. We have three double rooms, of differing sizes, one of which can be adapted into a twin or family room.
And while we often welcome individuals and couples, our place works best for small groups (extended families or golfers, for instance) – who can enjoy our impressive guest drawing room overlooking our amazing Ardglass golf course with its sea views – all to themselves.
If it’s chilly outside, we’ll light the fire. And a drop of rain is just another excuse for a drop of tea, complete with cake if you’re staying more than one night.
Our little corner of Ireland is a hidden gem – no wonder our family have been here for seven generations. And we’ll happily tell you about all the lovely visitor spots that are on our doorstep.
The pub on the corner, The Old Commercial or Mannie’s as we call it, has been in our family since my great, great grandfather established it in 1824.
My own grandmother owned and ran the Down’s Hotel, now Aldo’s Restaurant next door. So we’ve some experience in welcoming the weary traveller!

Joe and Agnes Mulheron, my great grandparents, from whom I am carrying on the family tradition of offering warm Irish hospitality in Ardglass.
Indulgent Baking
My own personal passion is baking. It’s another family tradition that sits well with the warm welcome we’re famous for.
I’m happiest when making gorgeous, rich, gooey chocolate fudge cakes, sticky sweet desserts, dainty vintage afternoon teas and our extensive breakfast menu.
I’m also gluten- and sugar-free myself, so I’ve spent some time perfecting the art of making comfort food and healthy options for those of us with different dietary requirements.
So, we’re ready when you are. And we look forward to welcoming you as our guest.
